Wide Bay Mazda project consists of a modern 715m2 commercial warehouse, with mezzanine office & boardroom overlooking show room space. The building has a feature showroom constructed of exposed steel portal frame, Recycled Timber battens to walls & ceiling with Curtain wall glazing, this area also has the customer Café bar, Work stations and lounge facilities, waiting room for customers whilst attending the large 3 bay modern service workshop.

The Workshop includes modern facilities with oil separation equipment and storage facilities, data connection points and large ceiling fan. The workshop also incorporates customer viewing panelling into the workshop space, use of natural ventilation and lighting, whilst addressing Hervey Bay’s sunny environment with the use of 150mm King span ‘Ultra’ roof sheeting with opaque Polycarbonate panel system.

The mezzanine area has a timber panelling facade, constructed with recycled, naturally sourced sustainable materials. The interiors open plan design with suspended mechanical ventilation, steel and hardwood timber features complimented with Mazda specific track lighting gives the feel of an open plan environmentally friendly space.

The site having extensive car parking and hardstand areas incorporate a stormwater drainage Bio retention Garden bed system to ensure that any surface pollutants are captured by these garden beds and protecting the environment downstream, reused the existing garden bed material and plants as well as the installation of perimeter low energy street lighting.

The construction program of 230 days was to be completed on 30th March 2015 with EOT approved to the 9th of April 2015, however PBS achieved practical completion from the client on 18th February, 2015.

The total site area is 3364.48 sq/m with a Building footprint of 626sq/m and first floor footprint of 89sq/m.

PBS engaged 97% of local trade contractors and suppliers to complete this project. Which was a prerequisite from the client at tender to ensure that the local community has as much involvement as possible.
