Parke State School
PBS was successful in tendering 4 schools as part of the BER rollout for the C1 area of Wide Bay Region under Construction Management of Baulderstone QLD Pty Ltd. All schools were given tight programs and PBS was able to deliver all on time and within budget. PBS had to work within constraints of a working school environment and to maintain safety for all students, staff and parents on a daily basis.
The project consisted of a Resource Centre comprising 3 areas:
1. MultiMedia Room 86m2 – An open flexible area for Functions as a Learning Area, used for all types of teaching techniques including individual, small group and whole class groups; activities include sitting at desks and at learning centres involving listening, discussion, computer work, viewing, display and presentation; internal circulation for access to the resource collection area
Special Features in design included being able to be opened up into the adjacent Resource Area to form a double space and ability to accommodate differing furniture configurations to achieve a highly flexible learning environment.
2. Resource Centre 61m2 – An open flexible area for functions as a Learning Area, used for all types of teaching techniques including individual, small group and whole class groups; activities include sitting at desks and at learning centres involving listening, discussion, viewing, display and presentation; Internal circulation for access to multi media room.
3. Covered Learning Area 79m2 – Small group and individual participation in a variety of activities such as art and craft, technology project construction, reading, writing and presentation, story telling, small group musicals, leisure time and learning assistance.
