Only minutes walk to Mona Vale beach within Sydney’s prestigious northern beaches, Halcyon, is an exclusive development of 25 luxury town homes with a single level basement. Above the basement is a central landscape zone with extensive tropical planting and screening to maintain residents privacy.
Working with internationally renowned architects Allen Jack & Cottier, PBS Building took on a full design and construct role for the project.
Environmental concerns were of the utmost importance on this project. Not only was there extensive use of passive solar design principals but an environmental impact statement was prepared at the commencement of the project and strictly adhered to throughout the construction process.
The passive solar initiatives were so effective that despite their $1m plus price tag, the environmental design of the homes meant that they didn’t require air-conditioning.
The 2 storey town homes have an open plan design with extensive voids and 6 metre high glazing running through the floor system to maintain the open plan feel.
Extensive use of colourbond on the façade and light beech timber floors with open plan stairs are reminders that the beach is only a short stroll away.
