Located in Canberra’s north, Gungahlin College accommodates approximately 900 Year 11 and 12 students, a Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) Learning Centre and a joint college and community library.
This state of the art educational facility also features flexible learning hubs for different modes of teaching, a media centre, a performing art theatre, outdoor learning environments and a full commercial kitchen for the Certificate III level hospitality course.
The college provides contemporary high quality facilities that will encourage modern approaches to teaching and learning, with the ability to adapt to new approaches and technologies into the future.
A key design objective for the project was sustainability and the design included a number of environmentally sustainable features aimed at achieving a 5 star rating under the Australian Green Building Councils rating for education facilities.
The Gungahlin College was opened in time for the 2011 school year.
