Glendyne – Stage 3
Glendyne Training and Education Centre is a registered non-state school operating on a 140acre farm just outside Hervey Bay managed by Queensland Baptist Care. Glendyne provides alternative education for students from mainstream schooling offering small class sizes, hands-on learning and mentor support away from the distractions of suburban life.
Stage 3 of the Centre’s development included construction of a new library and seminar building, a new science building including storage shed, a new drama and amenities building and associated site and carpark works. The schools stormwater and site drainage were upgraded during the project requiring close coordination with the school, which remained open throughout construction.
The buildings comprise a mixture of timber frame, concrete blockwork and structural steel. A variety of claddings were selected ranging from shadow clad with cover battens, veneer brickwork, rendered block and metal claddings. The buildings are designed for long life cycles, with a large emphasis placed on durability of materials and minimal maintenance.
